Tawheed al-Uluhiyyah — Singling Out Allah in Worship
وَمَا خَلَقْتُ الْجِنَّ وَالْإِنسَ إِلَّا لِيَعْبُدُونِ
And I did not create the jinn and mankind except to worship Me. (Quran 51:56)
Lesson for Corps Members
The core of Tawheed al-Uluhiyyah is directing all acts of worship — prayer, supplication, sacrifice, love, fear, and hope — solely to Allah. In a world of social pressures, peer worship of status and wealth, the corps member must anchor every ambition in this truth: we were created to worship Allah alone.
Notes & Q&A
Real-life scenario: A Muslim corps member is offered a bribe to falsify community development records. The fear of Allah (and not just the law) is what truly deters the believer. This is an act of Tawheed — fearing Allah above all others. Q: Is it worship if I perform Salah while being distracted by work? A: The obligation is fulfilled, but the reward is diminished. Khushu' (concentration) in Salah is from the perfection of worship. Scholars recommend saying 'Allahu Akbar' and imagining this is your last prayer.
