Muslim Corpers'
Association of Nigeria
خِدْمَةُ الإِسْلَامِ مِنْ خِلَالِ الأُمَّةِ
Serving Islam through the Nation
MCAN is an acronym for the Muslim Corpers' Association of Nigeria and has for more than four decades achieved a very close relationship with Muslim graduates who have successfully qualified for the one-year National Youth Service in the various states of the Federation.
The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) scheme, brought to limelight by Decree No. 24 of 1973, made possible in Nigeria the deployment of eligible graduates from universities and other relevant institutions of higher learning to undertake national service in states other than their state of origin. This made it possible for fresh Muslim graduates to gather under a platform to organise and coordinate themselves for the purposes of collectively carrying out Islamic responsibilities — hence the formation of MCAN.
The Association was inaugurated during the 1978/1979 service year. It has its National Headquarters in Mabushi, Abuja, with branches across all 36 states of the Federation including the FCT. MCAN was registered under the Corporate Affairs Commission of Nigeria in 1994.
